The tournament is open to students and teachers in ancient studies and to archaeology or cultural heritage professionnal workers. Other players are welcome but only 2 of them are allowed on the field at any time. In case of infringements, we can take the decision to exclude the team of the tournament.

Organization of the tournament

22 june to 23 june

The first phase of the tournament is the group phase. All teams will be placed in one of the 8 groups of 6 teams each.

  • Teams in a group will play against each other (so that each team plays 5 matches)

  • Play time is 20 minutes without half-time break

  • 3 points are given for victory, 1 for a draw and 0 for a lost match.

  • Teams in a group will be ranked from the highest points to the lowest.

  • First two teams of each group are qualified for the knockouts phase.

The second phase is the knockouts phase. It will take place on Sunday.

  • Qualified teams will compete against each other in eight, quarter, semi and final.

  • Play time is 20 minutes without half-time break.

  • If there is a draw at the end of the 20 minutes, there are 5 minutes of additional time.

  • If there is no winner after additional time, there will be penalty shoot-outs.

  • During shoot outs, each team must provide 5 shooters with at least one woman.

  • If there is still a draw after the 10 shoot-outs, each team provide one more shooter (other than the first 5 ones) until there is a winner.

  • Each team consists of 6 outfield players and 1 goalkeeper.

  • All teams must always have at least one female player on the pitch.

  • If a team doesn’t have at least 4 players on the field (due to exclusions, injuries, ethylic coma, etc.), it will lose the game 3 : 0 by forfeit.

  • If a team hasn’t enough players, it may borrow a player from another team. Please note that a player can join only two teams !

  • There is one referee per game.


  • There is no offside.

Specific playing rules

  • All players must wear matching football jerseys or at least t-shirts of the same color.

  • We will provide bibs if two teams have similar jerseys.

  • Shoes with metal studs are prohibited.

  • We strongly recommand wearing shin guards.


  • Games will take place on half-pitches (ca. 50 x 35).

  • Balls are supplied by the organization.

  • Goals are 5m wide and 2m high.
